As part of a training program for agricultural advisors and farmers from Türkiye, Romania, and Portugal, an excursion was organized to ReFarm lighthouse farm Hof Tolle. During the visit, Nils Tolle presented the Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) concept and led a farm tour, showcasing the first newly implemented NBS measure. The participants were highly impressed by the well-designed farm concept and expressed enthusiasm for the innovative approaches demonstrated.
In the coming years, the Re-Farm project will monitor the impacts of the agroforestry system on crop performance, water retention, vegetation condition and microclimate. Monitoring will combine field observations with remote sensing indicators such as vegetation indices, crop moisture status and surface temperature. Results will help evaluate how trees and shrubs contribute to improved water availability, reduced heat stress, biodiversity and overall resilience of the farming system.
